The choral group Convivium is singing classical Christmas pieces at the National Botanic Garden at 6:30.

Wednesday, December 15
Roots musician Tom Principato, who has won 23 Wammie Awards throughout his career, plays the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage at 6.

Thursday, December 16
What holiday season would be complete without Frank Capra’s It’s a Wonderful Life? The Jimmy Stewart classic screens at the American Art Museum at 6:30.

Friday, December 17
In a different kind of Christmas-movie classic, what’s better than Bruce Willis as John McClane? The 1988 action epic Die Hard screens at the Library of Congress at 7:30. Just another reason to say, “Yippee-ki-yay!”

Saturday, December 18
Santa’s Workshop is open for business at the Ellipse. The young (and young at heart) can stop in to meet Old St. Nick and see his elves at work. 12:30 to 4:30; 5:30 to 9:30.

Sunday, December 19
In case you still haven’t had enough holiday festivities, the National Cathedral’s annual nativity-scene exhibition puts créches from around the world on display. 8 to 5.
