Kirk Savage knows quite a bit about Washington’s monuments. In fact, the chair of the University of Pittsburgh art-history department actually wrote a book on the subject. Savage is discussing his research along with the evolution of Washington’s memorial landscape at the American Art Museum. 4 PM.

Humor and the Holocaust are words that seldom occupy the same sentence. British filmmaker Rex Bloomstein, however, has spent a career analyzing how Jews responded to disaster with laughter. Bloomstein is showing clips of his various films and leads a discussion today at the Library of Congress’s Mary Pickford Theater. Noon.
