Catch Madama Butterfly by the San Francisco Opera at the Kennedy Center. The tale of the innocent Butterfly and rascally Pinkerton is one of the most famous and beloved in opera. Through March 19; get tickets ($25 to $300) at the Kennedy Center’s site.

Christoph Eschenbach, music director of the National Symphony Orchestra, is letting the public take a peek at how he works. He’s conducting an open rehearsal of Brahms’s Third Symphony with the UMSO at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. 7 PM; free.
