The DC Muslim Film Festival and a chance to give to breast-cancer research

FILM: This year's DC Muslim Film Festival aims to celebrate the 65 percent of the world's Muslim population that's under the age of 30. Highlights include Un Prophete, a 2010 Oscar nominee, and The Taqwacores, about the punk subculture among Muslim college students in New York. Through April 27; all events are free. Brush up on your drug history at a preview screening of Square Grouper: The Godfathers of Ganja at American University's Mark Wechsler Theater. The documentary, from the same team who produced the critically acclaimed Cocaine Cowboys, is split between three stories of the marijuana smuggling culture in 1970s Miami. 7 PM; no cover.

DANCE: The Russian National Ballet is performing the classic Sleeping Beauty at the Hylton Performing Arts Center. Get tickets ($30 to $46) at the center's Web site. 8 PM.

BENEFIT: The photography show "A Thousand Words" captures the images and stories of 100 Washingtonians whose lives have been touched by breast cancer. The one-day exhibit is a joint effort of Pink Jams and Shoot for Change, and all proceeds benefit the Capital Breast Care Center. The evening includes live music by local singer Marc Bower and desserts from Sprinkles Cupcakes, Bayou Bakery, and more. At the Atlas Performing Arts Center; 6:30 to 9:30.
