Never bet against the Greenbrier. Shortly after new owner Jim Justice rescued the AAA Five Diamond resort from bankruptcy, he nabbed a spot on the PGA tour for an inaugural Greenbrier Classic tournament. While the historic Old White golf course was getting a facelift, builders were working on a subterranean complex beneath the hotel's front lawn. Last July, the greens were ready for play, as was a new "basement" housing the Casino Club.

Only resort guests or special-function attendees are allowed into the casino, with its 32 gaming tables and 320 slots. It's a perfect setting for James Bond, who could sip a martini in Twelve Oaks lounge or sample sushi at In-Fusion restaurant. He'd raise a glass during the 10 PM Champagne toast, when formally attired dancers glide down the staircase to waltz in the casino. The casino caps a new promenade of upscale shops and restaurants, including a coffeehouse staffed by professional baristas.

The Greenbrier (800-624-6070) is in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Rooms are $199 to $670.
