We usually don’t condone using people to get want you want, but we’re going to make an exception here. Your mission for the summer is to become friends with a member of Vida Fitness’s Penthouse Pool Club and Lounge on U Street.
There’s no doubt the 12,000-square-foot private rooftop area with views of the Washington Monument will be the place to hang on a hot summer day, with private, shaded cabanas lining the rim and hundreds of bright red lounge chairs scattered by the pool. The 60-foot heated pool, four feet and six inches deep all around, is surrounded by synthetic grass.
The membership lounge also features communal fire pits, a grill, full food and beverage service, a bar, and tables and chairs. Walk down a stairwell on the side of the building and you’ll find another space of lounge chairs on the tanning deck.
Currently there are 1,000 members and a 300-plus waiting list. However, members can bring up to four guests each weekday and two guests on Saturdays and Sundays for $25 a guest.
The penthouse’s grand opening is tomorrow from 7 PM to midnight. Members must RSVP (and can bring guests!).
