Could it be that not only do we have a new Washington Redskins team with quarterback
Robert Griffin III onboard, but we also have a new attitude among Redskins fans? Based on Twitter alone,
that would be the impression. Yesterday the Skins lost to the St. Louis Rams, 31 to
28, in a messy, mistake-filled, and often confusing game, and one player, Josh Morgan, cost the team a valuable play when he lost his temper and was hit with a penalty.
But today there is a remarkable absence of vitriol or blame. If anything, fans are
forgiving, and despite the loss, they were high on the performance of RG3, who threw
for two touchdowns and ran for a third. He got sacked once but still was nimble throughout.
Overall, he completed 20 of 29 passes for 206 yards, but his QB rating dropped to
86.3, compared to the 139.9 after the win over the New Orleans Saints last week.
It’s notable that linebacker London Fletcher played his 226th consecutive game. On the downside, two valuable players were injured
in the game: linebacker Brian Orakpo and defensive end Adam Carriker, who could be out for the season.
Next week is the team’s first home game of the regular season. They play the Cincinnati
Bengals, who have the same 1-1 record.
Here’s a random sampling of Monday morning tweets about the Rams game.
