2013’s Meat-Free Week Events in DC

The fourth annual vegetarian week celebrates with cooking classes, brunches, and happy hours.

Once DC’s Meat Week comes to a close on Sunday, it will be vegetarians’ time to shine during the fourth annual Meat-Free Week

From February 4 to 11, DCVegan, the Kindness Collective, and Compassion Over Killing will host meat-free events, including vegetarian cooking classes, four-course vegan meals, and all-you-can-eat vegan brunches.

Monday, February 4

Vegetarian cooking class at Whole Foods Market Foggy Bottom
2201 I Street, Northwest, 6 to 7 PM

BBQ Kickoff Party at Sticky Fingers
1370 Park Road, Northwest, 6:30 to 9 PM
For $17.99, enjoy a vegetarian barbecue dinner with coleslaw, collard greens, cheesy jalapeño cornbread, and a cupcake.

Tuesday, February 5

Taco Tuesday at Casa Oaxaca
2106 18th Street, Northwest
For $35.13, patrons will feast on a three-course meal with hibiscus blossom crispy tacos, sponge cake, and choice of margarita. This special will be available all week.

Wednesday, February 6

Vegan Wine-Down Wednesday at Whole Foods Market
2201 I Street, Northwest; 5 to 7 PM
For $5, sample five different wines and vegan gourmet dishes. (And keep the wine glass!)

Thursday, February 7

Organic Cocktails at Elizabeth’s Gone Raw
1341 L Street, Northwest, 5:30 to 8 PM
Enjoy happy hour with organic cocktails and get a taste of the restaurant’s new small plates menu.

Friday, February 8

Pop-Up 4-Course Vegan Meal
410 Florida Avenue, Northwest, 8 to 10 PM
Gouter hosts a four-course vegan meal that comes with a cocktail and $15 credit for an Uber ride home. Donate to the Kindness Collective when you register online

Saturday, February 9
Brunch lovers should head to the Corcoran for an all-you-can-eat vegan brunch at Todd Gray’s Muse. RSVP required

Monday, February, 11

Closing Celebration of Meat-Free Week at the Wonderland Ballroom
1101 Kenyon Street, Northwest, 6:30 PM
Meat-Free Week celebrations end with vegan sloppy joes, meatless meatball sandwiches, sweet potato burritos, and desserts. During happy hour, which starts at 5 PM, all vegan entrées will be $2 off.
