Bergami’s Pizzeria Will Open in Brentwood (Menus)

Cauliflower-crust pies and craft brews for a Rhode Island Avenue development.

TaKorean just announced it is opening a location in the Capitol Riverfront’s upcoming Twelve12 complex. Here’s more in restaurant-development news: Former Haven Pizzeria general manager Mark Bergami is set to open an unaffiliated pizzeria in Brentwood’s Rhode Island Row this spring. The Northeast DC “new urban community” is in the building process, with other restaurants such as Carolina Kitchen planned for the mixed-use development.

In keeping with the growing trend, the new Bergami’s will be a fast-casual operation. Diners can customize pies by picking their own crusts—including gluten-free and no-carb cauliflower options—sauces, cheeses, and toppings (see the full menu). Similar to the growing &Pizza venture, creations can get elaborate with garnishes such as goat cheese, shrimp, and balsamic glaze, and the pies are cooked to order in a high-speed oven. More straightforward tastes can still opt for a simple pepperoni or one of the suggested combinations like Buffalo chicken. Craft brews, wine, and espresso drinks are also in the works.
