Google released its animated Google Doodle today in honor of the start of autumn. However, the change might have sparked some debate around the office. It turns out that this year, the precise moment of the autumnal equinox fell late enough in the evening—at 10:29 PM (Eastern time) Monday—that half the globe started its autumn season later than we’re used to.
Due to Google’s universal use, the company decided to change its daily doodle to match Universal Time—according to which the season change wasn’t until 2:29 AM Tuesday.
