Dr. Karl Smith has been serving the Northern Virginia and Southern Maryland communities for over 20 years after his retirement from the US Air Force. His approach to periodontal treatment is to offer the most advanced, effective, and comfortable treatment possible to all of his patients. To accomplish this, he completes 100+ hours of continuing dental education each year so that he can provide the ultimate care and comfort for all types of challenging dental problems.

He offers treatments for tooth loss, bone loss, bad breath, gummy smiles, dental implants, gum recession, loose dentures and offers total relaxation for dental appointments using a variety of safe sedation options. His modern office also offers the latest and most advanced technological advances including 3D Cone Beam Imaging and Laser Periodontics.

Dr. Smith is recognized each year as a Top Dentist in a variety of magazines including Washingtonian. He says, “To be recognized by my peers is a huge honor for me. I am very lucky to be able to treat the people of Northern Virginia and Southern Maryland and work alongside some of the finest dentists in the country.”

Outside of the office, family time with his five children is where his heart is, followed closely by cheering on his college team UCLA, as well as the Washington Capitals, Nationals and Redskins. His office team describes him as a dentist with “superpowers” because of his genuine desire to improve his patients’ lives and smiles. Dr. Smith’s colleagues and patients describe him as a gentle, easy-going person with a passion for his field.
