John Essepian III, MD, has been happily serving Northern Virginia for over 30 years and has performed over 30,000 surgical procedures. Educated at Georgetown University and Johns Hopkins University, he is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a pioneer in ophthalmology being the first surgeon to perform partial thickness corneal transplants (DSAEK) with local anesthesia, as well as, laser- assisted cataract surgery in Northern Virginia. Dr. Essepian has authored more than 50 scientific publications and presentations, featured in TIME magazine for his advancement of LASIK procedures, and is the doctor trusted most by the United States Military for refractive surgery. He served as president of Northern Virginia Academy of Ophthalmology and is currently co- Medical Director of Northern Virginia Eye Surgery Center in Fairfax, Virginia. Dr. Essepian III is an accomplished corneal specialist and surgeon and has rightfully earned the title of the area’s top doctors, year after year, given to him by numerous peer reviewed publications.
