Steven K. Neufeld, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon and the founder of The Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Center (OFAC) in Falls Church, Virginia. With over 22 years of experience in the Washington, DC, region, Dr. Neufeld specializes in minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery, bunion and hammertoe correction, and total ankle replacements. OFAC is the region’s first comprehensive foot and ankle center, offering a multidisciplinary team that includes orthopaedic surgeons, podiatrists, physical therapists, and athletic trainers.

Dr. Neufeld was the first in the area to perform minimally invasive bunion correction and continues to lead in this field. He published the only U.S.-based study on the technique and chairs both national and international training courses. His minimally invasive surgical approach allows for smaller incisions, less pain, faster recovery, and eliminates the need for general anesthesia. “It’s a game-changer for my patients,” says Dr. Neufeld. “No cast or crutches are needed, and patients can walk and drive right away.”

In addition to his surgical practice, Dr. Neufeld is deeply involved in clinical and biomechanical research, holds patents for orthopedic implants and braces, and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications. He serves as the Director of the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Fellowship at OFAC, Director of the Total Ankle Replacement Program at Inova Health System, and is an instructor at Georgetown University Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He also serves as a Clinical Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.

Dr. Neufeld is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and an active member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, Virginia Medical Society, Eastern Orthopaedic Association, and Arlington Medical Society. He holds an Advanced Certificate in Total Ankle Replacement and plays a leadership role in healthcare policy through various committee positions.
