John and his team joined the firm in 2017 after 10 years as CEO of Capital Fiduciary Advisors (CFA), an independent Registered Investment Advisor firm he founded in 2006. At CFA, he and his associates provided clients with objective, unbiased investment and financial planning advice. Before forming CFA, John was a Managing Director at Andersen Tax in McLean Virginia where he was responsible for the Investment Advisory practice and led a team that advised on over $2 billion of client assets – private and institutional. Prior to Andersen Tax, John spent 16 years with Prudential Financial in the D.C. region as a Managing Director.
The Consumer Research Council of America named John as a Top Financial Planner for seven consecutive years and the National Association of Board-Certified Advisory Practices named John as one of Washington’s Premier Wealth Advisors in 2011 and 2012. John received the Washington DC’s Top Money Manager Award from SmartCEO Magazine in 2015 and was recently named to both Forbes’ 2021 Best-In-State Wealth Advisors list and Washingtonian’s 2022 Top Financial Advisors list.
John is an active member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), Investments & Wealth Institute and the Social Investment Forum, the SRI Research Association. John is also a member of several local organizations including the Board of Directors and Investment Committee Chair of the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia, and Member and Treasurer of 100WS, a Loudon County Virginia based non-profit. John is also involved with environmental organizations such as the Nature Conservancy and Loudoun County’s agricultural initiatives, and has recently completed the Lead Virginia 2019 program.
