Ms. Garrett focuses her practice on estate planning including the preparation of revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and end-of-life medical documents. She also assists clients with the administration of trusts and estates, including helping clients navigate the probate process. Ms. Garrett also serves as a fiduciary for select clients. She enjoys working with families and individuals to create custom-tailored estate plans that accomplish each person or family’s individual goals and collaborating to solve unique issues facing some families including special needs planning. Having practiced in family law extensively prior to transitioning to trust and estates, Ms. Garrett is also adept at creating solutions for the estate planning issues that often arise in blended families and those focused on generational planning. She also enjoys working with clients on the preparation and negotiation of premarital and post-marital agreements and adoption.

Ms. Garrett is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. She is a member of the Alexandria Bar Association, Fairfax Bar Association, and the Virginia Women’s Attorneys Association (where she is the past President of the Northern Virginia Chapter).

Ms. Garrett has been selected as a Top Lawyer by Northern Virginia Magazine every year since 2020. She has also been included in Super Lawyers® since 2014, including being listed in the Top 50 Women Virginia. In addition, she has been included in The Best Lawyers in America since 2019.

Ms. Garrett regularly speaks to community groups and organizations regarding estate planning and administration. Ms. Garrett has authored multiple articles which have been published in the Virginia Family Law Quarterly published by the Family Law Section of Virginia State Bar, Virginia Lawyers Weekly and Fairfax Woman Magazine. She has organized, prepared and hosted Continuing Legal Education classes for many organizations including the Fairfax Bar Association and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association.
