Susan Butler has been practicing family law, mediation and domestic relations for 25 years, with specialized training in collaborative divorce and advanced mediation. She is certified by the Virginia Supreme Court to mediate family law cases and is a certified Divorce Financial Analyst. Ms. Butler is admitted to practice law in Virginia, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Connecticut and before the Supreme Court of the United States. The majority of her cases have been resolved without the need for contested court intervention, but Ms. Butler has extensive experience in litigation to draw on when court intervention is needed. Her litigation expertise reaches to equitable distribution, custody and support issues. Additionally, Ms. Butler has written appellate briefs for and argued cases before the Virginia Court of Appeals. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) and the International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL).
