Today, CNNMoney released its annual list compiling the best of America’s small cities.
Reston and Columbia made the top ten, and cities such as Gaithersburg and Germantown
also made the cut.
CNN also released the top 25 “hotspots” for the rich and single. Arlington ranked
number four for its main drag in Clarendon, but Crystal City and Shirlington also
got mentions. Old Town’s “numerous pubs, clubs or lounges for trivia, dancing or sing-along
piano bars” earned Alexandria a 12th-place ranking.
A third list of “top-earning towns” was compiled, and Bethesda ranked number one,
ahead of such famously swank suburbs as Greenwich, Connecticut, and Hoboken, New Jersey.
Ashburn, Arlington, and Ellicot City also appeared.
The list is compiled using data from Onboard Informatics, a data services company
that works with a number of publications to determine the best places in the country,
whether it’s where to raise kids or where to retire affordably.
Other areas where several of the “best places” are situated include the twin cities
in Minnesota and cities near Boston, Dallas, Denver, and Los Angeles.
