The Washington Bladereported yesterday that Barack Obama has named seven openly-gay people to his transition team—three of which were high-up in the Clinton administration.
In the face of a petition signed by more than 3,000 people, the Montgomery County School Board is considering a resolution to declare January 20, Inauguration Day, a school holiday. With Martin Luther King Day the day before, that would give the kids in the district a four-day weekend. Montgomery County is one of the few large districts in the area that hasn't already declared January 20 a holiday.
Delaware's governor and lieutenant-governor elects will take the oath of office on January 20 at 12 AM—yes, at midnight. They want to avoid overlap with Obama's swearing-in and allow people to celebrate both.
Adding to the madness that will be the millions coming to Washington for the inauguration, the Congressional Youth Leadership Conference, a group comprised of young scholars from every state, will be bringing 15,000 youngsters to DC for educational workshops during the inauguration weekend.
