Anyone looking for a free meal has two opportunities today. DC Pizza, a new pie shop in Golden Triangle, will give out gratis pies and drinks for lunch and dinner, while Cava Grill Kentlands officially debuts today with free rice bowls, salads, and pitas.

Anyone craving pizza can head to 1103 19th Street, Northwest, between 11 and 3, and again from 6 to 9, for a four-topping pie and soda. The independent shop’s premise is similar to Chipotle—or the multiplying &Pizza locations: Customers pick a sauce like classic tomato or barbecue, cheeses, meats, veggies, and “free finishers” such as fresh basil or ranch dressing. There’re also a number of suggested combinations for the indecisive.

Meanwhile, the quickly growing Cava Grill chainlet makes its entrance in Gaithersburg with a “community day,” during which guests can eat for free but are encouraged to donate to local nonprofits MicroGreens and City Blossoms. Comped lunch is served at 213 Kentllands Boulevard from 11 to 2, and dinner from 6 to 9. The menu is also customizable, with bases like salad and rice bowls or pita sandwiches, plenty of dips and spreads, braised meats and falafel, and veggies for topping.
