The Cupcake Cup: Baked & Wired vs. Curbside Cupcakes
Help us vote for the best cupcake in Washington.
Here we are, folks! It's the first face-off of the Sweet 16 of the Cupcake Cup. It's an exciting morning, as we're really starting to get down to it in terms of cupcake supremacy. Are you ready to start voting? Let's get on it. Click below for this morning's match up.
Baked & Wired: The cupcakes at this Georgetown spot are well-regarded for their size and buttery, cake-like texture. Owner Teresa Velazquez uses family recipes and turns out conventional flavors (red velvet, vanilla with chocolate) as well as creative creations such as lemon with a raspberry-jam center and the Elvis—a banana cake with peanut-butter frosting.
Curbside Cupcakes: This mobile cupcake truck is an intersection of Washington's latest food trends—social-media marketing (follow the truck's whereabouts at twitter.com/curbsidecupcake), street food, and cupcakes—the concept was the brainchild of two friends who wanted cupcakes one day but didn't feel like schlepping to Georgetown to get them.
This poll will stay open until Friday at 10 AM.
*To help keep this contest fair, we've elected to use an IP address-based poll. This means that if you are voting from an office or network setting, not everybody will be able to vote. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we hope you'll encourage coworkers to vote from their home computer.
Baked and Wired. Hands down the winner. I wouldn’t even put them in a cupcake contest because they are the best BAKERY in Washington DC, hands down. I would love to see any of the other cupcakeries try to make some of the stuff they have.
People, cupcakes are just small portions of cake and frosting. I really hope this fad ends soon. If anything, can we have a contest for something that is uniquely DC, and not something ripped of New York?

Curbside Cupcakes are BY FAR the BEST in DC. Those cupcakes are so amazing! Hats off to the bakers for doing an outstanding job. Have you tried their keylime or peanut butter cup? PURE HEAVEN!

B&W hands down is the winner. I was soooo very disappointed with CC; delivery is the the best thing about these cupcakes. My 5 year old could have made better ones. The hype of coming to you wears off after you’ve had it.

Well, yeah, BW fan-- Curbside comes to you so it is SO much easier!

I am starting to think that the people voting for Curbside have never been to B & W.

Not only are CC’s delicious, finding the truck outside your office is just like the childhood thrill of chasing after the Good Humor Man. The twitter updates are just (pardon the expression) the icing on the cake. LOVE it curbside, baby!

Curbside is the best... and they deliver! My only complaint is that the lines are getting too long.
