Before Raging Bull, before Goodfellas, Martin Scorsese directed The Last Waltz. The documentary, which chronicles the final performance of the Band and includes guest appearances by Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, and others, screens at the Library of Congress at 7.

Tuesday, December 21
As Christmas Eve draws near, the United States Army Blues is performing big-band selections from Stan Kenton’s holiday catalogue at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage. 6 PM.

Wednesday, December 22
How can you best calm yourself before the chaos of the holiday weekend? Try an evening at the Watha T. Daniel-Shaw Neighborhood Library (1630 Seventh St., NW) knitting circle. 7 PM.

Thursday, December 23
The Encore Chorale, a chorus of performers over the age of 55, sings holiday songs at the Kennedy Center at 6 PM.
