From St. Patrick’s Day to Women’s History Month, ways to celebrate

Head to Arlington Cinema ’N’ Drafthouse Thursday evening for a special St. Patrick’s Day screening of the modern cult classic the Boondock Saints. 7:15p; $5.50.

The monthly comedy show “Cool Dudes Hanging Out” is at Velvet Lounge Friday. The lineup includes the Tonight Show’s Nikki Glaser and Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’s Sara Schaefer. 7 PM; $5.

Australian musician and DJ Beni, who’s slated to release his debut album this year, spins at DC9’s Liberation Dance Party Friday at 9 PM; $8.

This week’s Friday Night Eclectic at Strathmore features Subcontinental Drift, a collective of artists from Washington. The performers include the jazz trio Fourth Stream and the US Department of Bhangra DJ group, and there’ll be dance classes and interactive art exhibits. Buy tickets ($10) from Strathmore. They’re also available for $12 at the door; 8 PM.

Flash, a monthlong photography celebration in Crystal City, starts this weekend. There’s an opening party Friday at 2450 Crystal Drive in  Arlington that celebrates all 55 photographers featured in the exhibits. 8 to 11; free.

As part of the Environmental Film Festival, Plastic Planet is screening at the Embassy of Austria Friday evening. The 2009 documentary takes an in-depth look at how plastic use affects the earth. Call 202-895-6776 to reserve a spot. 7:30 to 9; free.

Put your best leg warmers forward at Eighties Mayhem, a dance party at the Black Cat Saturday night. Local DJs Steve Ep, Missguided, Killa K, and Krasty McNasty will start spinning nostalgic hits at 9:30. $10.

Hear from artist Jason Salavon and Freer Gallery curator Keith Wilson Saturday, who are hosting an afternoon discussion about Salavon’s video installation in the “Echoes of the Past” exhibit. 2 to 3:30; free.

In honor of Women’s History Month, Artisphere is hosting “Herstory: The Lives of Fierce AAPI Women” Saturday evening. The program includes film, dance, poetry, and song. 7 to 9:30; $10.
