St. Patrick’s Day 2015 in Washington: Parties, Parades, Dinners, and More

FRIDAY, MARCH 13

The Capital Club’s 20th Annual Shamrock Soiree

This event at Johnny Pistolas is almost sold-out, so if you’re interested, be sure to purchase tickets soon. Here’s the deal: For $45, you get an open bar from 9 to 11 PM, live music from Lunch Money Bandits, and drink specials all night long, including $3 Bud Light, $4 ciders, $5 wines, and $5 rail drinks.

SATURDAY, MARCH 14

Star & Shamrock

Washington’s favorite Irish-Jewish restaurant/bar will be celebrating St. Patty’s for four days. The party starts on Saturday at 9 PM with live music by The MollyHawks and menu specials like house-made “Irish bangers and colcannon knish” and $5 Murphy’s Irish Red.

The Almost Shamrock Fest
1725 Columbia Rd., NW
Lyfe of the Party performs at this bash at Adams Morgan’s Chief Ike’s Mambo Room. Print a copy of this green flyer for a free beer before 11 PM. $5 cover.

The Shamrock Crawl
If “green revelry” sounds like your kind of thing, then this is the party for you. The drinking starts at 2 PM at Rumors (1900 M St., NW) and The Front Page (1333 New Hampshire Ave., NW), where partiers can pick up their wristband and mug. Stop by a number of participating bars, including Cafe Citron and Ozio Restaurant & Lounge, for drink deals until 9 PM. $25 online, $30 at the door.

Cloverfest
1300 1st St., SE
Choose between the afternoon (1:30 to 4:30 PM) or evening (6 to 9 PM) session for this beer and food festival at The Yards. Tickets get you access to more than 75 beers, a bundle of food trucks, live music, and games like beer pong and corn hole. Starting at $44.

Kelly’s Irish Times
14 F St., NW
Doors open at 10 AM at this pub for a party including whiskey, Guinness Irish stew, and corned beef and cabbage.

SUNDAY, MARCH 15

STK
1250 Connecticut Ave.
This Dupont restaurant/lounge has big plans for its “Shamrocks & Champagne Brunch Party,” from 11:30 AM to 6 PM. There will be $18 bottomless brunch cocktails, classic brunch dishes, and a DJ spinning lively tunes all day long.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Constitution Ave. from 7th to 17th Sts., NW
This year, the green parade hosted by the Irish American Club starts at noon.

Star & Shamrock

A kid-friendly event will be celebrated from 3 to 5 PM, featuring grilled cheese sandwiches, balloon animals, and the Shannon Dunne Dancers.

TUESDAY, MARCH 17

Jack Rose Dining Saloon
2007 18th St., NW
The Adams Morgan whiskey haven will offer a rooftop happy hour, featuring $6 Irish punches and $5 Irish beers, from 4 PM to 9 PM. Also on the docket are whiskey flights, Irish-inspired dinner specials, and five Irish “tipples” at the underground den, Dram & Grain.

Trummer’s on Main

Craving corned beef and cabbage? You can order from a selection of festive specials, including corned beef Reuben with sauerkraut ($14), corned beef and cabbage ($23), or a Guinness float with whiskey ice cream ($8).

BLT Steak

This downtown restaurant will be churning out a special three-course menu ($60 per person), which can be paired with craft stouts and Irish whiskey for an extra $50. Also on deck are beer and whiskey pairings, as well as à la carte offerings like duck sausage and Irish soda bread. 5:30 PM to 10:30 PM.

St. Patrick’s Day Show with Low Water Bridge and Starting Early
1006 Florida Ave., NE
This Virginia-based band—akin to Loreena McKennitt and The Corrs—promises a set list of folk, Celtic, and Americana music. 8 PM, $13.

Fadó Irish Pub
808 7th St., NW
Doors open at 8 AM for breakfast and beer; live music starts at 2 PM; and $10 cover begins at noon. One thing will be constant throughout the day: Irish dancers and bagpipers.

The Town Tavern DC

The party starts at 5 PM featuring $5 Guinness, $6 green pitchers (of course), and $7 car bombs. A $10 open bar runs from 8 to 10 PM. And if you make it till midnight, you can chug a $1 green beer.

Doors open at 8 AM for all-day food and drink specials, including house-cured corned beef and cabbage and Irish whiskey, as well as live music by Klezcentricity.

The Dubliner

Swing by one of DC’s favorite pubs for live Irish music all day long, including performances by John McGrath and Paddy Halligan. Starting at 10 AM.

Barrel
613 Pennsylvania Ave, SE
This Capitol Hill spot will offer drink specials–like a Paddy Melt cocktail made with Irish whiskey, chamomile-infused Old Overholt rye, amaro, and lemon–as well as a few Irish spins on dishes like fish and chips ($18).

Shaw’s Tavern
520 Florida Ave., NW
Live music starts at 3 PM with a performance by Luke James Shaffer, followed by The Points of Roguery at 7 PM. Also on deck are $3 Jell-O shots, $4 Jameson shots, $5 Guinness, and $6 car bombs. From 5 PM to 11 PM, revelers also get half-priced burgers and pizzas.
