Savion Glover takes tap dancing to a whole new level with his show “SoLo iN TiME,” which uses dance to explore music and rhythm, with a full company of music and dancers helping out. See him dance at Strathmore at 8 PM; get tickets ($25 to $55) at Strathmore’s Web site.

The spoken-word poetry organization Mothertongue aims to give women a safe space to speak their minds. Hear their latest pieces and have a chance to speak yourself at the Black Cat at 8:30 PM. Free.

Blow off some steam midweek at U Street Music Hall’s nu-disco dance party with the Whale and Beautiful Swimmers. 10 PM; free.
