Tax Day Blues? Restaurants Are Giving a Few Breaks

You now have approximately 12 hours left to file your taxes. So, if you’ve put it off this long—or if you’re looking to rub away the financial pain—you could probably stand a drink or two or at least a good dinner. Here’s which restaurants are throwing out tax-day deals.

Brabo by Robert Wiedmaier
Robert Wiedmaier, the chef/owner behind Brasserie Beck and Marcel’s, opened this Old Town hotel dining room earlier this year. Today, the restaurant will pick up the tax on lunch and dinner, which includes such robust dishes as braised pork shank with sweet potatoes and mushroom/foie-gras ravioli (we can vouch for the rich deliciousness of the five-onion soup).

Daily Grill
You won’t pay any tax on lunches and dinners at this American chain. Snacks at the bar, which include calamari, spinach-and-artichoke dip, and quesadillas, will run at Happy Hour prices ($2.95 to $3.95) all day.

Grapeseed
We know this is last minute, but we haven’t seen a deal more generous than the one at this Bethesda wine bar/restaurant, which is offering free lunches—either fish tacos or a turkey burger. The hitch? It’s only available for the first 100 reservations.

Zola
Did you put your taxes off until . . . today? You can ease your anxiety at the bar at Zola, which is providing tax forms, pencils, calculators, and envelopes (the restaurant will even mail them for you and pick up the postage before 11 PM)—and a bourbon-based IRS Raspberry cocktail. Also at the bar, you’ll find a three-course lunch for $20.05 and a three-course dinner for $35.15.

UPDATE:

McCormick's and Schmick's is offering a $10.40 tax day menu (offered at the bar only). Items like grilled salmon, beer-battered fish & chips and more will be offered for just $10.40, and they're offering up drink specials as well.
