The Pizza Pool: Flippin’ Pizza vs. Rustico

Who makes the best pizza in Washington? You tell us!

Who makes the best pizza in Washington? You tell us! We're asking you to vote in the first Washingtonian.com Pizza Pool, a brackets-style contest that will narrow 32 pizzas to one winner. For a refresher on how the brackets will work, head here.

To see today's match up, check below.  UPDATE: Flippin' Pizza won this match. The next round of the Pizza Pool starts Monday, August 31.

Flippin' Pizza: Although this chain was born in California, it was started by a Queens native, and the hand-tossed pies recall Broadway: You have to fold the crust to make a slice manageable.

Rustico: Offbeat creations such as the duck-confit-and-brie pizza or the summer pie with squash and country ham are delicious, but you can’t go wrong with classic pepperoni at this Alexandria spot.

This poll will stay open until 3 PM on Friday.

*To help keep this contest fair, we’ve elected to use an IP address-based poll. This means that if you are voting from an office or network setting, not everybody will be able to vote. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we hope you’ll encourage coworkers to vote from their home computers.
