The Wrap-Up: The Week in Food

• Fabio Trabocchi, former chef of the late Maestro in Tysons Corner, has left his latest gig at the Four Seasons in Manhattan after just three months. Wednesday, Time Out New York broke the news, quoting the hotel’s PR representative, who said the restaurant and the chef had “philosophical differences.” Although Trabocchi told the New York Times at 5:40 that day that he was “staying in New York,” he had a different story two hours later. At 7:34, Washington Post restaurant critic Tom Sietsema wrote on Twitter that Trabocchi e-mailed: “Looking at more than one option and DC is one of them.”

• Yesterday, the Washington Post’s Going Out Gurus announced that New York-based restaurateur Shelly Fireman will open an outpost of Bond 45 in National Harbor. The Italian steakhouse, scheduled to open in ten days, will have 275 seats and house-aged beef.

• Big Chair Coffee n’ Grill—the first stand-alone coffee shop in Anacostia—opened this week in DC’s River East neighborhood. According to DCist, the owners won Murky Coffee’s La Marzocco espresso machine at a tax auction. Coffee beans will come from Ethiopia, and eventually there’ll be eggs and sausage at breakfast and burgers, wings, and chicken fingers at lunch.

• Washington’s winter restaurant week officially wraps up Sunday, but a number of places are extending the deal—three-course lunch for $20.10 and dinner for $35.10—for another couple of weeks. Here’s our guide to where you can still get the bargain prices if you missed this week.
