Dream Weekends 2005: The Bellmoor

The Bellmoor’s gardens may make you feel like you’re in the country–even the halls smell of fresh flowers. A couple of blocks from Rehoboth’s busy boardwalk, the inn is an oasis of quiet: A grand library has cushy reading chairs. There is an adults-only pool. A spa offers outdoor massage.

Deluxe rooms are luxurious. Soft linens, rattan furnishings, and fluffy pillows abound. The decor is so elegant that guests often ask where they might buy similar pieces.

Gas fireplaces make an off-season stay in a suite cozy. On warm days, you’ll prefer your balcony, which may overlook the gardens or pool and is fitted with Adirondack chairs.

The best thing about the complimentary breakfast–a simple spread of eggs, fruits, and pastries–is that you can sleep in. It’s offered until 10:30.

Bottom line: Country elegance a few blocks from the beach.

The Bellmoor, 800-425-2355; thebellmoor.com. Deluxe room in summer is $205 to $345. Garden rooms are less and, while nice, are smaller and not as fancy.
