Washington’s most prominent power-breakfast spot.

Washington’s most prominent power-breakfast spot.

The food: Washington’s most prominent power-breakfast spot is at this luxe Georgetown hotel, where during the week boldface names crowd the tables for fruit parfaits and omelets. It’s also known for its extravagant Sunday brunch, which includes a buffet with a chocolate fountain, carving station, and raw bar. The dinner menu is filled with intricate dishes made with carefully sourced ingredients: Wagyu beef, Cervena venison, Casco Bay cod, and Burgundy black truffles.

The scene: A garden of palm trees form a lush background for the airy dining room, filled during the morning and afternoon with local celebrities and ladies who lunch and at night with expense-account travelers and hotel guests. The white marble bar leads to a pretty patio adorned with flowers and potted plants.

What’s nearby: At the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue, M Street, and 28th Street, Seasons is on the east end of Georgetown’s shopping and entertainment district. Galleries, antique stores, boutiques (Kate Spade, Cusp) and major chains (Banana Republic, Club Monaco) occupy M Street and nearby Wisconsin Avenue. Sprinkled throughout are many bars and clubs that cater heavily to Georgetown University students. The restaurant and hotel are a half-mile cab ride from the Kennedy Center.

Insider tips: Want to spot a famous-for-DC type? Breakfast is the best time.
