Cathedral Heights
Pizza
Famous-for-DC types, families with little kids, and off-duty chefs and servers all routinely pile into Peter Pastan’s black-and-white-tiled pizza shop in the shadow of the cathedral. The pies—thin, blistery, and truly Neapolitan—make it a destination in itself. (We love the Vongole, with cockles in their shells and capers.) But the beauty of 2 Amys is that the menu is both versatile and surprising. Go heavy on snacks: Maybe you’ll happen upon a delightful cow’s-milk cheese “from the nicest farmer in Colchester, CT,” or discover a cured ham you’ve never tried. Salads are wonderful, deviled eggs are justly famous, and the housemade vanilla ice cream is anything but boring.
