West End
Latin, Mediterranean
At this chic West End dining room, Enrique Limardo (also behind Seven Reasons and the new Surreal, among other places), whimsically fuses Mediterranean and Latin flavors and techniques. His riff on moussaka, a slender, crisp cigar filled with ground lamb, is silky with smoked eggplant and Manchego cream. Bluefin-tuna tartare is punched up with papaya and pasilla chilies, then scooped onto lavash. Comparatively simple but just as tasty: tiger prawns in lemony butter with housemade hot sauce and a hunk of freshly baked sourdough. Our move is to order à la carte, but there is a longer chef’s tasting menu—or, on some nights, Limardo’s “degustation table,” where he serves ten (or more) courses.
