We’re big fans of the blistered sourdough pies—such as a spin on sausage and peppers with melty 'nduja—but this subterranean haunt in Mount Pleasant is more than just a pizza shop. Chef/owner Demetri Mechelis puts out soulful Greekish small plates including lemony, avgolemono-sauced stuffed cabbage and whipped feta with orange-ouzo jam, while co-owner Tara Smith expertly recommends something offbeat from Greece or Italy to drink. The married couple met while working at Tail Up Goat, and they share that restaurant’s belief that a shower of crunchy breadcrumbs—whether atop an excellent Caesar or shrimp-scampi pizza—is always a good idea.
