It’s dinner and a show all in one at this spacious downtown room, with highly drinkable cocktails arriving in smoke-filled cloches and plating that almost feels as if you’re at a gallery opening. The four-course mod-Indian prix fixe will keep you plenty full: Start with the crispy-soft chaat with potatoes and pomegranate, then don’t miss the chickpea-forward chana masala panisse, with its assertive green-garlic chutney. Opt for a side of smoked black dal: It’s luscious but—unlike everything else about the meal—understated, too.
