Dream Weekends: Evermay

A romantic hideaway

Erwinna, Pennsylvania

A three-story Victorian beauty, Evermay stands serenely on 25 acres of woodland, fields, and gardens on the banks of the Delaware River.

No two of the 18 rooms are alike, but Victoriana reigns, with tall carved headboards and marble-top dressers. There's an air of gracious living: fresh fruit and flowers, cordials or cookies with evening turndown, afternoon tea in the parlor or on the terrace. Some rooms have whirlpool baths and river views.

Bucks County offers romance and fun: canoeing the river or walking or biking alongside, country drives, antiquing everywhere.

Weekends feature Evermay's pride–a single-seating six-course dinner. Recent entrées: house-smoked duck confit on pappardelle pasta; sesame-crusted grouper with lump crab and rock shrimp in a honey soy broth.

Bottom line: A quiet retreat with very good food and lots to do nearby.
