Why go: It doesn’t have the abundance of great delis—the pickle barrels, the magnificent layer cakes and pies. It lacks zest. But this tiny operation in an Annapolis strip mall nudges its way onto this bargains list for one reason: It’s got the area’s best bagels. By far. And the bialys are even better.

What to get
: Beyond the breads, an almost satiny Nova (belly lox); excellent whitefish and whitefish salad; egg salad.

Best for
: Loading up on bagels and lox for a weekend brunch or special occasion.

Insider tip: The bialys typically sell out by 11 every day.
