The Pizza Pool: Monterey’s Pizza vs. RedRocks Pizzeria

UPDATE: This poll is now closed; RedRocks won! You can see the latest Pizza Pool updates and contests here.

Who makes the best pizza in Washington? You tell us! We're asking you to vote in the first Washingtonian.com Pizza Pool, a brackets-style contest that will narrow 32 pizzas to one winner. For a refresher on how the brackets will work, head here.

Earlier today, in a big upset, Piola knocked fan favorite Comet Ping Pong out of the game; voting is still going on in the Cafe Pizzaiolo vs. Duccini's Pizza face-off; you can vote on that here. (That poll is now closed; you can see the latest Pizza Pool updates and contests here.) To see today's match up, check below.

Monterey's Pizza: You can't go wrong with the delivery at this Alexandria joint, which makes thin-crust pies with creative toppings such as roasted garlic, Mexican beef, and banana peppers.

RedRocks Pizzeria: This Columbia Heights pizzeria's Neapolitan-style pies are cooked at 750 to 900 degrees in a wood-burning, dome-shaped brick oven. Toppings—such as San Marzano tomatoes, arugula, capers, buffalo mozzarella, and Sicilian oregano—keep with the Italian vibe. This poll will stay open until 3 PM on Wednesday.

*To help keep this contest fair, we’ve elected to use an IP address-based poll. This means that if you are voting from an office or network setting, not everybody will be able to vote. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we hope you’ll encourage coworkers to vote from their home computers.
