Things to Do

Where & When: This Week in Washington Nightlife

What to do for fun this week.

Monday: Federal Reserve
It's the last-ever night to catch the Federal Reserve Collective at Iota. The evening has nothing to do with interest rates; instead, it’s all about talented local musicians gathering for a night of straight-up pop, folk, and guitar rock. They're disbanding the night after this one, so make sure to stop in at the club and see artists ranging from These United States to Vandaveer and plenty more. Best of all, all of this great music will only run you $5. 8 PM.

Tuesday: Tree Lighting
Head to see the lighting of the Capitol Christmas Tree (on the west lawn of the US Capitol). Donated by the state of Arizona, the 85-foot blue spruce, known as “the people’s tree,” will be garnished with 10,000 lights and 5,000 ornaments. At 5, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi will light up evergreen, and the US Marine Band will play. Get more tree lightings in our guide.

Wednesday: An Evening with Nick Verreos
The Project Runway alum will be speaking at the Corcoran tonight. Expect him to talk about everything from his career to starlet's fashion choices to his fashion line. $20; 7 PM. Get tickets here.

Thursday: Santa Jam
Rock out to some great holiday music while helping to raise money for local homeless shelters for women and children at tonight's Santa Jam at the State Theatre. Plus, you can enter a special raffle where you could win everything from restaurant gift certificates to a condo rental in Costa Rica. 7 PM, $11 donation.
