Washington power journalist Gwen Ifill, managing editor of PBS news show Washington Week, stops by the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library tonight to discuss the state of race in American politics and to sign her book The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama. The free event starts at 7.

Nothing sets the tone for a movie more than the opening title sequences, which really are an art in and of themselves. Kyle Cooper, who's done the title sequences for films like Seven and Spider-Man, talks about his job tonight at the U.S. Navy Memorial and Naval Heritage Center. $35, 6:30 PM.

For a long time, singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Annie Clark was in the background of other bands (Polyphonic Spree, Sufjan Stevens), but now she’s performing solo.
