The Cupcake Cup: Hello Cupake vs. Caboose Cafe

We've kicked off our contest to determine the best cupcake in Washington. Vote for your favorite sweet treat!

The cupcake train trundles on, and we have another winner to announce from yesterday's face-off: Buzz Bakery moves on to the next round (the Sweet 16, if you will), having won handily over Open City's cupcakes. But the fun's not over—we have a couple of solid competitions for you to vote on today.

Click below for today's morning matchup.

(Also don't forget to enter our contest: Guess the outcome of the Cupcake Cup from the Sweet 16 through the winner. E-mail candrews@washingtonian.com with the subject “Cupcake Cup” by Friday, March 5. The winner who comes closest to guessing all the slots will win a tasty prize.)

Hello Cupcake: With espresso drinks, wifi, cupcake flavors such as Velvet Elvis, 24 Carrot, Peanut Butter Blossom, and gluten-free and vegan choices, this Dupont Circle store has tons of fans.

Caboose Cafe:During the day, this Del Ray cafe offers sandwiches and a hip coffeehouse vibe. But don't overlook the vanilla or chocolate cupcakes, which make for a sweet treat.

This poll will close at 10 AM on Thursday, March 4.

*To help keep this contest fair, we’ve elected to use an IP address-based poll. This means that if you are voting from an office or network setting, not everybody will be able to vote. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we hope you’ll encourage coworkers to vote from their home computers.
