The Cupcake Cup: Curbside Cupcakes vs. Just Cakes

Help us vote for the best cupcake in Washington.

Nostalgia Cupcakes must make some pretty powerful memories for people—they beat out the popular Penn Quarter Red Velvet Cupcakery. Best Buns vs. Natalia's Elegant Creations is still going on till 2 PM today, and you can vote in that here.

Click below for today's morning matchup.

(Also don't forget to enter our contest: Guess the outcome of the Cupcake Cup from the Sweet 16 through the winner. E-mail candrews@washingtonian.com with the subject “Cupcake Cup” by Friday, March 5. The winner who comes closest to guessing all the slots will win a tasty prize.)

Curbside Cupcakes: This mobile cupcake truck is an intersection of Washington's latest food trends—social-media marketing (follow the truck's whereabouts at twitter.com/curbsidecupcake), street food, and cupcakes—the concept was the brainchild of two friends who wanted cupcakes one day but didn't feel like schlepping to Georgetown to get them.

Just Cakes: This Bethesda neighborhood bakery offers a special sweethearts menu, which includes red-velvet cupcakes, chocolate-dipped strawberries, and a six-inch heart-shaped cake covered in dark-chocolate ganache.

This poll will stay open until 10 AM Saturday.

*To help keep this contest fair, we’ve elected to use an IP address-based poll. This means that if you are voting from an office or network setting, not everybody will be able to vote. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we hope you’ll encourage coworkers to vote from their home computer.
