The Cupcake Cup: CakeLove vs. Pastries by Randolph

Help us vote for the best cupcake in Washington.

Well, here we are, folks: Today is the last day of the Cupcake Cup before we determine the last of the 16 spots that will move on to the second round. One of those advancing? Cupcakes Actually, who won easily over Alexandria Pastry Shop. Mother's Macaroons vs. Chantel's is going on over here, and you can vote there until 2 PM today.  Click below for this morning's match up.

CakeLove: Love 'em or hate 'em (their cupcakes seem to inspire more divisiveness than politics, a rarity in DC), you have to admit that CakeLove is the granddaddy of all cupcake shops in the area. Their U Street location has been open since 2002, and has expanded to several more locations since.

Pastries by Randolph: This Arlington French-style bakery specializes in wedding and special-order cakes, but don't neglect their cupcakes—they've got everything from red velvet to orange-flavored and more.

This poll will close Thursday at 10 AM.

*To help keep this contest fair, we’ve elected to use an IP address-based poll. This means that if you are voting from an office or network setting, not everybody will be able to vote. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we hope you’ll encourage coworkers to vote from their home computer.
