This week, we can glean one message from our Missed Connections participants: Wear a helmet. Bike accidents and near collisions are happening left and right, leaving some angry and others extremely grateful. Also this week, we have a questionable-looking man breaking hearts in DC’s Lafayette Park, a long-brewing case of unrequited nerd love, and a little Craigslist philosophy.

you were biking north on 15th with a yoga mat; i had a green light but slowed because it didn’t look like you were going to stop.
next time, please at least slow down and signal your turns. Craigslist—where you can find everything, including bicycle-safety lessons.

This may come ten years too late.
We met at a sci-fi convention, *many* years ago. You, hotness, were dancing in a crowd of people to a popular vampire glorification song, ‘Cry, Little Sister’, and I simply smiled at you. Seeing my fangs, you recoiled, yet returned.
Later, I saw you at your college dorm, VA Tech in Blacksburg. Later yet, we’d sort-of reconnected at the Crownsville RenFaire. You were with your wife? girlfriend? at the time, so all I could do was say ‘hello’ and depart.
I live here, now, and would like to say hello.
I am curious as to what time and experience have wrought on you; we had a midnight conversation about ‘not the right time, not the right place’ when I visit you at your parent’s house, those years ago. We went to the mall, remember? Three stories of shopping boggled me, but it was your company which had me enthralled.
Please email me, if only to let me know you are happy and well. ~ B We could make fun of this, but it’s just too easy—and besides, it’s kind of sweet.

Okay, I have tried to be nice but that is getting me nowhere so it is time to be more direct. You need to leave me alone. I am not even remotely interested and would love nothing more than for you to stop calling me, stop coming by, and anything else of that nature. I have told you in conversation yet you still don’t get it. Maybe you need to see it in writing? So you’re anonymously tracking someone down to get them to stop tracking you down? Yeah, we’re confused, too.
Bike wreck friday night at U and 17th Date: 2010-09-26, 8:49PM EDT
I was riding down U st friday night and was hit semi violently by a cab. I was in a little bit of shock but not enough to notice those that stopped and took the time to help. I know this probably isnt the place to say so, but i just wanted to say thank you to everyone that made that experience way better than it should have been. Im not sure but someone maybe even tagged along to the hospital, i was taped down pretty good and could only see the ceiling of the ER. Again a big thank you to everyone, i could never fully explain my appreciation for the help. Yikes. At least it’s comforting to know that the Internet has given us a way to thank nameless good Samaritans.
I decided to swing by for a quick look at the White House before my bus to New York, and stood near you in Lafayette Park. You had great boots and a beard, and a huge canvas duffel bag. Are you passing through? I was just getting up my courage to speak to you when you wandered off. I don’t imagine you are the craigslist type (neither am I), but I just wanted to put it out there in the world that you are beautiful, and it was a pleasure to cross paths today. Perhaps fate will bring us together again for a proper introduction? Boots, beard, Lafayette Park? Yep, this guy just wrote a Missed Connection for a homeless dude.
