Cheap Eats 2011: We, The Pizza

After mastering the burger at Good Stuff Eatery, former Top Chef contestant Spike Mendelsohn opened this pizzeria next door. A sturdy, flavorful crust and well-chosen toppings mean that the cheese and pepperoni pizzas hit all the right notes. But pies at this Hill-staffer gathering place are best when leaning toward the creative, including an outstanding barbecue pizza topped with smoky shredded pork, cheddar, and fried onions and a Buffalo-chicken pizza zigzagged with hot sauce. Instead of the famous milkshakes offered at Good Stuff, house-made sodas are the way to wash down your pizza. Coconut, orange and pineapple varieties can help take the edge off a hot day.

Also good: Spinach-and-artichoke and sausage-and-pepper pizzas.

Open Monday through Saturday for lunch and dinner.
