COMEDY:
Funny man Reggie Watts will be performing at the Woolly Mammoth through August 26. Hailed by GQ magazine as “the coolest comedian on the planet,” Watts opened for Conan O’Brian’s North American tour and received the ECNY Award in 2009. For tickets ($35 to $45), go to the event Web site. 8 PM.

BALLET: Esteemed dance company Ballet West is coming to the Wolf Trap tonight. The Salt Lake City-based dancers will be performing works by George Balanchine and Jiri Kylian, along with local choreographer Susan Shields. Tickets ($4 lawn, $40 in-house) can be purchased at the event Web site. 8:30 PM. And if you’re looking to perfect your own pirouette, the stars of Ballet West are hosting an intermediate ballet class from 10:30 AM to noon. FILM: Take the whole family to tonight’s free screening of National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets. Treasure hunter Benjamin Gates (Nicolas Cage) is on another adventure, this time searching for the missing pages of John Wilkes Booth’s diary. Staring Diance Kruger, Helen Mirren, and Justin Bartha. Complimentary popcorn will be served, and the kids can jump around a moonbounce before the film. This screening is part of the U Street Movie Series at Harrison Recreation Center (1330 V St., NW). Gates open at 7 PM.

DANCE: It’s salsa night at the Artisphere, so dust off your dancing shoes and head over to the venue’s ballroom. Learn a few moves during the event’s hour-long lesson, then dance the night away to high-energy tunes from DJ Reyna “La Farundlera.” For tickets ($6 students, seniors, and military; $8 regular), go to the event Web site. Dance class starts at 7:30 PM, live music and dance begins at 8:30 PM.
