FUNDRAISER: Tonight is Pink Rocks the Runway, an annual breast cancer awareness fashion event, headlined this year by designer and Project Runway winner Christian Siriano. Breast cancer survivors under 40 will walk the runway at the International Trade Center wearing pink couture gowns. Tickets ($75 to $500) are available through the Web site. 7 PM.
Saturday, October 22
5-MILE RUN: The second annual Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Department 5-Mile Run will loop through all five wards of Hyattsville and end at the local fire station. Runners and walkers must maintain at least a 24-minute-mile pace. Kids can race against firefighters on a short route at 11 AM. After the races, head to the open house at the fire station, and learn about fire safety. All proceeds go toward the Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Department. Registration is $25 today, $30 on race day. 8:15 AM.
SYMPOSIUM: Pacers Arlington will host the Newton Natural Running Symposium, which will help participants learn to run faster, stronger, and more efficiently to prevent injury. Doug Bertram, a Newton biomechanics expert, will present. Free. 10 AM to 12 PM. Sign up here.
2K WALK/RUN: Grab your pup and head to the Capitol Reflecting Pool for the DC Woof 2K Walk/Fun Run. A veterinarian from Banfield Pet Hospital will be on hand for a Q&A session, and there will be obstacle courses for your dog (and for your kid), arts and crafts, and snacks for you and your pet. Register here. Free. 10 AM to 2 PM.
2.5-MILE WALK: Help raise money for autism research by taking part in the Walk Now for Autism Speaks on the Mall. The 2.5-mile family-friendly walk draws hundreds each year. Participants will also have access to information booths to learn about the latest research and available services in Washington, and can enjoy carnival games, refreshments, and live music at the post-race party. Register on race day. $20 for adults, free for children. 10 AM.
SQUARE DANCE: Grab your cowboy boots and head to St. Stephen’s Church for the Great American Square Dance Revival. Get your dance on as the Percolators entertain with live, old-time string band music, and square-dancing fiends face off in a “hoedown throwdown.” More information here. $5. 8:30 to 11:30 PM.

10-MILE BIKE/5K RUN: The Intercounty Connector (ICC) family 10-mile bike ride and 5K walk/run will take place on the first segment of the connector, and will raise funds for the Special Olympics Maryland.
