Friday, October 28

DANCE: Laurent Amzallag’s last (free!) YaLa fitness dance workout at Seventh Street Landing (Seventh and Water sts., SW) takes place tonight. Join Amzallag for a the “Yalaween” party after the class, and be sure to wear a costume—there will be prizes. Saturday, October 29

AIDS WALK: The 25th annual AIDS Walk Washington will raise money for HIV/AIDS programs of Whitman-Walker Health, a local nonprofit that provides health care and social services. The walk begins and ends at Freedom Plaza (13th St. and Pennsylvania Ave., NW) and takes place rain or shine. Online registration closes at 8 tonight, so act fast. $25 for general registration, $15 for students and seniors 60 years and older. 9:15 AM.

5K: The second annual Ghost, Goblins, & Ghouls Spooktacular 5K and Scarecrow Sprint will take place at the Village at Leesburg (1601 Village Market Blvd.). Runners are encouraged to dress up—the best costume will win a prize after the race. Online registration is closed, but you can register the day of the race from 1 to 4:30 PM; registration is $35 for adults and $17 for ages 18 and under. 5 PM race, 6 PM sprint.

DANCE: Celebrate this Halloween with moves that are scary good by learning everyone’s favorite zombie dance, Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” Head to the workshop at DC Dance Collective (4908 Wisconsin Ave., NW), and stick around afterward for the Halloween party. $15. 6 PM.

HEALTH SCREENING: In honor of Veterans Day, the Washington Redskins are hosting Timeout for Military Veterans’ Health at FedEx Field. Held in the Redskins’ team locker room, the event will provide free health screenings for members of the military and their families. Former Skins players Ken Harvey, Ron Saul, and Ricky Ervins will be present, as well as current team cheerleader (and member of the US Air Force) Adriana. Free. 10 AM to 3 PM.

Sunday, October 30

MARATHON: It’s too late to sign up for the Marine Corps Marathon, but you can still cheer on the 30,000 runners who will take to the streets through Arlington and DC. There are a bunch of spots to station yourself, including the National Mall and the Marine Corps War Memorial. Then join the fun after the race at the Finish Festival in Rosslyn. YOGA: Unity Woods in Ballston (4001 N. Ninth St., Arlington) is offering a complimentary yoga class for beginners from 5 to 6 PM. No reservations are required, and you’re encouraged to bring a friend.

5K: The 18th annual Goblin Gallop, featuring a 5K run and 1K fun run, will take place at Fairfax Corner Shopping Center. Funds raised will go to the John Quadrino Foundation to Benefit Children with Cancer. Participants in the 5K will receive a T-shirt, a goody bag, and the chance to win more than $3,000 in awards and prizes. Click here to register and for more information on fees.  8:30 AM.
