Friday, November 11

BIKE: If you’re a proponent of bike riding, take part in the Re-Cycle event tonight. It celebrates bicycles and promotes recycling their materials so they don’t end up in landfills. Since November 6, volunteers have been constructing a bike-powered float made from scrap materials, which will lead the Re-Cycle parade from BicycleSpace to Arena Stage tonight. Tickets to participate in the parade are sold out, but you can still register for admission to the afterparty. Free. 7 PM.


Saturday, November 12

OPEN HOUSE: Lil Omm Yoga will host an open house at its new studio location in Tenleytown (4708 Wisconsin Ave., NW). Drop in for free demo classes and giveaways. The 1,400-square-foot space offers classes geared toward parents and children, and can be rented for parties and special events. Visit the Web site for more information.

NAKED MILE: The Nearly Naked Mile encourages participants to run in the bare minimum as a representation of what it means to feel comfortable in one’s own skin. The pre- and post-race celebrations will take place at Clyde’s in Reston. Proceeds benefit the Burn Foundation, an organization that assists injured firefighters and burn patients in Washington. TURKEY TROT: The third annual Mount Vernon High School Cares Turkey Trot and Wellness Walk will benefit the MVHS Cares Equal Opportunity Fund. Frozen turkeys will be given to the top two winners in age and gender categories. $30 for adults, $25 for 18 and under. 8:30 AM. Click here to register.

TURKEY TROT: Help out the Boys & Girls Club of Manassas this year at its Turkey Trot 5K and one-mile fun run. The course will go through neighborhoods and parks in Manassas, and the one-miler will take place on the Jennie Dean Elementary School track. POTLUCK: Learn about Indian vegetarian cooking from Nani Power, author of Ginger and Ganesh: Adventures in Indian Cooking, Culture, and Love, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church (1525 Newton St., NW). Power will conduct a reading, followed by a signing and a potluck. Participants are encouraged to bring Indian and/or vegetarian dishes. Click here for more information. Free. 4:30 to 6:30 PM.

5K: The Wounded Warrior 5K will take place at Agricultural History Farm Park (18400 Muncaster Rd., Derwood, MD). Proceeds from the race will help veterans and members of the military who are recovering at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. There will also be a kids’ run for those 8 and under. BIKE: Put on your retro Sunday best and take a bike ride through DC at the third annual Tweed Ride. The ride is free, and tickets to the afterparty at Smith Commons are available through Eventbrite. Can’t decide what to wear? Click here to get some inspiration. $15. Noon to 10 PM.

TURKEY TROT: The James Madison High School band will host the ninth annual Vienna Turkey Trot. Proceeds will benefit both the band and the town’s volunteer fire department. Participants are encouraged to bring nonperishable foods. $30 for 15 and older, $25 for 15 and under. Free for fun run. Online registration closes at noon today, but you can register the day of the race. 8:15 AM.

TURKEY TROT: Out of town for Thanksgiving? Get your Turkey Trot fix this weekend at the Fort Meade Turkey Trot 5K run and fun walk. Online registration is closed, but you can still register the day of the race. Participants are encouraged to bring canned goods. $10 to register. 8 AM.
