Commemorate 11/11/11 With These Restaurant Specials

Whether you consider this Veterans Day, Corduroy Day, or Nigel Tufnel Day, a few restaurants are celebrating with 11/11/11-related specials.

The last time 11/11/11 rolled around, in the early 1900s, it marked the day of catastrophic weather dubbed the “Great Blue Norther.” Conditions are looking pretty un-apocalyptic today, but you can still head inside to celebrate the end of the work week (and Nigel Tufnel Day!) with these evening-only specials on drinks and dinner.

At PS 7’s, you can get a whole meal plus boozy treats for $33: an $11 cocktail of your choice along with two $11 plates from the “for the table” and “beginnings” portions of the menu (think tuna sliders, bánh mì, and cauliflower soup). End with a complimentary cuptail.

Bayou Bakery
has a special discount on chef David Guas’s barbecue shrimp tonight. Bring a date and buy one regular order ($14), then get a second one for $11. There’s also a live jazz band, Laissez Foure, from 6:30 to 8:30, and pitchers of Abita for $10.

Plume at the Jefferson Hotel is offering an 11-course tasting menu for $111.11. The indulgent lineup includes house-made fettuccine with white-truffle powder and asparagus; Arctic char with vin blanc and caviar; seared foie gras with balsamic/black-bean sauce and braised daikon; grilled Provençal-style lamb; and two desserts. Wine pairings for each course can be added for another $111.11. Call 202-448-2300 for reservations.
