Welcome to round one of Wing Wars! We selected 32 local chicken wing destinations and randomly drew numbers to create this March Madness–style bracket. Every day on the Best Bites Blog, we’ll ask you to vote for which bars and restaurants should move on to the sweet 16. We’ll be posting two bouts a day during round one, so check back for updates. Voting will close at midnight of the day the posts are published.
The votes from yesterday’s contest are in, and, after a landslide victory over Mackey’s Pub, the Black Squirrel will be moving into round two, along with Arlington’s Wilson Tavern. This morning’s first match is a big one: The Buffalo-sauced snacks at beloved Dupont Circle bar Big Hunt are up against newcomer Fuel Pizza, where you can order your appendages mild to “#!^%@” (translation: very hot). Vote for the wings you want to see in the sweet 16, and check back later today to vote in our second round.
