Dupont Circle's Newest Yoga Studio Is Truly Epic (Pictures)

With three studio spaces, Epic Yoga may be the largest yoga spot to open in Washington.

Epic Yoga is a 5,000-square-foot studio in Dupont Circle that features three studios, local art and photography, and a juice bar and retail boutique. Photographs courtesy of WUB LLC.

There are so many yoga studios in Washington that we barely bat an eye when yet another one opens. But the newest spot to join the ranks, Dupont Circle’s Epic Yoga, is already impressing yogis who walk into its expansive 5,000-square-foot space above Mad Hatter and Yola DC.

Living up to its name, Epic Yoga boasts three practicing studios dedicated to yoga, barre yoga, and recovery, respectively. Exposed brick and hardwood floors are found in every room, and plenty of natural light shines through the windows and skylights. The reception area offers wi-fi and space for yoga happy hours, and in the future will include a juice bar cafe and retail boutique with yoga clothes, jewelry, and locally-made candles. His and her locker rooms includes showers and space to change and freshen up after a class.

Classes are all-level, and though there are 13 descriptions listed on the website, owner Emma Saal explains that each instructor–there are 13 including Saal–has a different training background and style of teaching. There’s a mix of prana flow, hot yoga, and gentle yoga instructors. Saal, who was classically trained at the Washington School of Ballet, teaches a barre yoga class unique to the studio that incorporates ballet barre work, cardio, and yoga.

Saal says in keeping with the full-service yoga vibe, Epic Yoga will offer laundry services, mat storage, and complimentary mats.

Epic Yoga opened March 1, but its grand opening is this Saturday from 12 to 3. It will feature complimentary classes all day, plus raffles and giveaways, food, and mini workshops.

Epic Yoga. 1323 Connecticut Ave., NW DC; 202-833-5914. Single classes are $18, and first-time guests can purchase a $20 pass for one week of unlimited classes. More grand opening special rates can be found on the website.
